A day after McConnell was hospitalized, the top two Senate Republicans told reporters they had spoken to their Kentucky colleague. Thune said McConnell \u201csounded good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wants to be back, but I\u2019ll defer to his staff on when,\u201d Thune told<\/a> CNN. \u201cHe\u2019s clearly dialed into what\u2019s going on. He\u2019s following the stuff we\u2019re doing this week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barrasso said McConnell was \u201clooking forward to getting back,\u201d per CNN. \u201cWe\u2019ll see, time will tell, but he\u2019s hoping to be back this week,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The majority whip did not share any information on why McConnell was in the hospital but said that \u201che was engaged on what we\u2019re doing on the floor, asked about what\u2019s happening the rest of the week and asked about timing of votes.\u201d<\/p>\n

On June 22, eight days after McConnell was hospitalized, Thune told<\/a> reporters he had spoken with McConnell \u201ctoward the end of last week\u201d and he \u201csounded good and was anxious to get back.\u201d<\/p>\n

A day after Loomer claimed McConnell was \u201cbrain dead,\u201d the two top Republicans issued statements saying they had just spoken with him, as WLKY reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n

We then got a statement from Senate Majority Leader John Thune\u2019s team, who said he spoke with McConnell Monday by phone, released around 1:30 p.m. \u201cThey had a lengthy and substantive conversation that covered a variety of topics, including national security,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

Another statement came in from Senate Whip John Barrasso (R) also just before 1:30 p.m.:<\/p>\n

\u201cSenator Barrasso and Senator McConnell had a lengthy conversation early this afternoon. Their phone call lasted roughly 20 minutes. They caught up about the latest news impacting Senate races, the Graham Platner scandal, and the recent Supreme Court ruling on coordinated spending limits. They also discussed the Senate\u2019s July work period, including the need to pass the NDAA and confirm President Trump\u2019s nominee for Director of National Intelligence. Senator McConnell was fully engaged and is eager to get back to the Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott Jennings, a CNN pundit and former McConnell adviser, also claimed<\/a> he had spoken with the senator after Loomer\u2019s morbid declaration:<\/p>\n

WLKY noted: \u201cQuickly after receiving all of these, McConnell\u2019s office put out an email to news outlets \u2018flagging\u2019 the same three statements.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aside from Thune, Barrasso, and Jennings, no one else has said they\u2019ve spoken with McConnell. As the Daily Beast reported<\/a>, Senator Mike Lee said he and his colleagues aren\u2019t keeping quiet because they\u2019re part of some elaborate cover-up \u2014 they just don\u2019t know anything:<\/p>\n

On Monday night, MAGA social media user Mila Joy speculated about why other senators have not spoken out about McConnell\u2019s condition. \u201cBecause they are ALL in on it together. That\u2019s why,\u201d she posted to her 571,000 X followers.<\/p>\n
