Michael Zerafa has launched a stinging attack on promoters No Limit in a since-deleted social media post after he was missing from Monday’s press conference.

The polarising Australian star was a notable absentee from the event, just two days out from his return to the ring against Mikey Dahlman.

Zerafa will compete on Wednesday’s card headlined by Nikita Tszyu, but was nowhere to be seen at one of the last promotional pushes for the pay-per-view event.

It was suggested that Zerafa opted not to attend, but the former world title contender has moved to refute that claim via social media.

“Let me make this very clear,” he said via Instagram, before taking it down hours later.

“At 9:41am, I received a call from No Limit telling me I was no longer required at the press conference. When I asked why, the response was vague “we’ve had to make some changes”. No further explanation.

“We knew it didn’t sit right, so we released a statement two hours before the press conference, laying out the facts. Still, they went ahead and falsely told national TV and streaming audiences that I “no showed”.

“That is not just dishonest, it’s defamation [Zerafa claimed].

“You cannot remove someone, then publicly shame them for not being there. That’s a direct attack on my integrity, my professionalism, and my name. And that has real consequences.

“I’ve spent years building a brand I’m proud of and I won’t sit back while others try to damage my reputation to serve their own narrative.

“This attempt to damage my reputation is serious and it won’t be ignored. Our legal team has now been contacted. Enough is enough.”

He received support in the comments from UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski.

“Sorry to hear brother. Not a good look,” he said.

Zerafa posted again at around 6.30pm and said he would ‘clear the air’ on Tuesday.

“Thank you for all the love and support,” he said via an Instagram story.

“Tune in live tomorrow 12pm, the air will be cleared as I get the platform to talk.”

Despite the tension in fight week and other fighters pointing out his past regarding late withdrawals – notably his 2021 fight against Tim Tszyu falling through – the brash 33-year-old still intends to step into the ring and face Dahlman.

Wide World of Sports has contacted No Limit for comment regarding Zerafa’s statement.

Zerafa had been outspoken in the lead-up to the event regarding some of Tszyu’s weird behaviour, which included claiming he had been consuming breast milk and placenta before his return to the ring after a 12-month absence.

The pair could be on a collision course later this year or early next year, should they both get through their respective bouts on Wednesday with victories.

Zerafa (37-5) last fought in August of last year, defeating Tommy Browne in Sydney.

His attempt to move up and compete on the world stage fell short in March 2024 when he was stopped by Erislandy Lara in a fight for he WBA middleweight world title.

Michael Zerafa has launched a stinging attack on promoters No Limit in a since-deleted social media post after…

[447
703,49,48,82
post-78863","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-boxing","tag-boxing","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-sports
["GET
