I’m not a parent, but I’ve seen the emotion that comes with the end of a sports journey.

You see it in the social media posts this time of year. Parents sharing pictures of their son or daughter’s final game, the last time wearing a jersey, the final season of organized sports.

And you can feel what those moments mean.

I’ve seen it through my own parents, watching the commitment, the sacrifices, and the years they put into supporting me. The early mornings, the road trips, the cold nights standing on the sidelines, and the countless hours spent making sure their kids had the opportunity to play.

Now, I also see it from the coaching side.

Coaching football has given me a front-row seat to watching families go through those same moments. Seeing parents show up every practice and every game, cheering from the sidelines, watching their kids grow not only as athletes, but as people.

Because that’s what organized sports are really about.

The wins and losses matter in the moment, but the lessons, friendships and memories last much longer. Sports teach discipline, teamwork, resilience and confidence.

For some athletes, that final game is the end of a chapter they’ve been part of since they were little kids. For parents, it’s a reminder of how quickly time moves.

One day, you’re watching your child play their first game. Then suddenly, you’re watching their last.

The jersey gets put away. The equipment gets packed up. The schedule that filled so many years suddenly opens up. But the memories remain.

So when you see those posts from parents celebrating the final game, take a second to appreciate what’s behind them. It’s not just a picture of an athlete.

It’s a picture of years of support, sacrifice, love and pride.

Because every athlete eventually plays their final game. And for the parents watching from the stands, that moment is one they’ll never forget.

[437
49,48,521,522,520,82
post-788811","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-cfl","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-canadian-football-league","tag-canadianfootballleague","tag-cfl","tag-sports
["GET
