The veteran lightweight says capturing the symbolic title is one of his biggest goals as he prepares to face Terrance McKinney at UFC 329.<\/p>\n

King Green<\/a> already seems to be looking beyond his next challenge. At UFC 329<\/a>, scheduled for this Saturday in Las Vegas, the American will face Terrance McKinney<\/a> in hopes of extending his three-fight winning streak. Despite having a tough fight right around the corner, Green already has his sights set on the BMF title.<\/p>\n

King Green Chasing BMF Belt<\/p>\n

At 39 years old, with more than a decade in the UFC <\/a>and 30 appearances in the promotion, Green might not have many years left in his career. That could explain why the American is eager to add another accolade.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0MMA Junkie, the veteran made it clear he is chasing the BMF belt.<\/p>\n

“I’m really trying to chase that BMF <\/a>belt,” King Green said. “Get another accolade to add to my career, and my roster is just chasing the BMF, if I can get that title and bring it back to my boy Nate Diaz, so, that’s my intentions.”<\/p>\n

Last March, Charles Oliveira won the BMF title after defeating Max Holloway by unanimous decision. But, apparently, that did not sit well with Green, who wants to capture the belt in what he considers its “classic form”.<\/p>\n

“I feel like the BMF is something different where we’re trying to keep fighting really alive, and Charles f*cked that up for us,” Green claimed. “But I’m trying to keep fighting in its classic form. It’s a fight, and some of the newer guys are trying to water the brand down and go, ‘It’s just a competition. We’re competing.’ No, no, no, we’re fighting. So, hopefully I can get that honor to be considered one of the BMFs and go fight for the BMF title.”<\/p>\n

How BMF Title Changed Hands<\/p>\n

The BMF title was first introduced in 2019, when Jorge Masvidal defeated Nate Diaz via TKO to become the inaugural champion. After Masvidal retired, the belt became vacant and was won by Justin Gaethje, who knocked out Dustin Poirier. Max Holloway later claimed the title with his knockout victory over Gaethje before successfully defending it against Poirier.<\/p>\n
