Lena Dunham made eyebrow-raising remarks about her nearly six-year relationship with Jack Antonoff months before news surfaced about his split from his wife<\/a>, Margaret Qualley. <\/p>\n

In the \u201cGirls\u201d creator\u2019s 2026 memoir, \u201cFamesick,\u201d<\/a> Dunham recalled the music producer \u2014 whom she dated from 2012 until late 2017 \u2014 spending a lot of time with an unnamed \u201cteen pop star.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dunham wrote in the book that she FaceTimed Antonoff while visiting her grandmother, but he was in \u201cthe recording studio in our apartment, where he was ensconced with a teen pop star I was too oblivious to be jealous of.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Golden Globe winner, 40, claimed in her memoir that the Bleachers front man, 42, spent his time \u201clocked in a room with a teen pop star whose needs seemed as massive and complex as my own, and who called me \u2018Aunt Lena\u2019 when I hobbled into the kitchen with my walker to grab another bottle of green tea.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dunham wrote that she came home from a doctor\u2019s appointment to allegedly find the woman pop star \u201csprawled across our sectional couch, weeping into Jack\u2019s lap as he told her that \u2018your teens are for experimenting\u2019 in a tone so comforting, it almost brought tears to my eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt had been so long since he\u2019d spoken to me with that kind of expansive generosity,\u201d she recalled in the book.<\/p>\n

Though Dunham never named the woman in question, fans suspected it was Lorde.<\/p>\n

Antonoff worked with the \u201cRoyals\u201d singer, now 29, on her second studio album, \u201cMelodrama,\u201d in 2015 and 2016. At the time, Lorde \u2014 born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O\u2019Connor \u2014 was 18 and 19 years old.<\/p>\n

The hitmaker denied rumors that he cheated on Dunham with Lorde, saying on X in 2018 that he was not \u201cseeing anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNormally i would never address rumors but i resent having the most important friendships and working relationships in my life reduced to dumb hetero normative gossip,\u201d he wrote at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose relationships are deeply important and sacred. with that said, im not seeing anyone. lol.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lorde also shut down the allegations, telling fans on Instagram Live that she and Antonoff were \u201cnot dating.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the last time\u2026 I love him, he\u2019s awesome. But we\u2019re not dating. Please!\u201d she said in February 2018.<\/p>\n

In the memoir, Dunham revealed that Antonoff allegedly threw her pain medication down the toilet after they got into the \u201cworst fight\u201d of their relationship.<\/p>\n

The \u201cToo Much\u201d alum said the couple argued when she spoke to Antonoff about her growing reliance on pain medication following her recent hysterectomy.<\/p>\n

Dunham wrote that Antonoff\u2019s response \u201cwas to go to the bathroom and angrily flush all my pills down the toilet, which necessitated a call to the doctor and a late-night trip to the pharmacy to get more so that I wouldn\u2019t go into withdrawal \u2014 from any one of the drugs \u2014 overnight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dunham\u2019s memoir revelations resurfaced after news broke that Antonoff and Qualley were calling it quits just weeks shy of their third wedding anniversary<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cJack could be very particular about how he liked things,\u201d a source told us. \u201cHe\u2019d often prefer for things to be done the way he thought was best, and Margaret didn\u2019t always feel like her perspective was being heard or given the same weight.\u201d<\/p>\n
