\n\tOver the span of nine months, Chuck Lorre<\/a> lost two of the most important people in his career: his longtime agent and mentor Bob Broder, who died in September<\/a>, and his go-to director, James Burrows<\/a>, who passed away last month<\/a> after a brief illness.<\/p>\n

\n\tTop TV comedy showrunner Lorre and venerable multi-camera comedy director Burrows were speakers at the Bob Broder memorial<\/a> in November, delivering deeply heartfelt \u2014 and very funny \u2014 eulogies. They got to spend time together at the event, which marked one of Burrows\u2019 final public appearances.<\/p>\n

\n\tBroder, a career-long agent of both Lorre and Burrows, likely played a matchmaker, pairing his two signature clients together in 1997, when Burrows directed the pilot for Lorre\u2019s ABC comedy Dharma & Greg. It started as a collaboration \u2014 and friendship \u2014 that spanned three decades and a half a dozen series.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a great loss,\u201d Lorre told Deadline in his first public comment about Burrows\u2019 death. \u201cHe was a great man, singular talent. I was blessed to work with him on Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly. There was no one like him. It was a gift to have gotten to work with him and to be friends with a man like Jimmy Burrows.\u201d <\/p>\n
