Former NFL player Will Compton, who created media buzz after saying he was \u201cflabbergasted\u201d that he wasn\u2019t invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce\u2019s wedding<\/a> last Friday, has since said that his remark was a joke.<\/p>\n

The former linebacker made the initial viral comment on Monday\u2019s episode of sports talk show Wake Up Barstool, during which host Dave Portnoy asked Compton about his absence from the Madison Square Garden wedding.<\/p>\n

Portnoy also noted that every member of Tight End University, an annual three-day football camp co-founded by Kelce, had received an invitation to the wedding \u2013 aside from Compton.<\/p>\n

Compton told Portnoy that he initially hadn\u2019t thought much about not being invited, but had a change of heart when he saw photos of the wedding guests, which totalled nearly 1,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I\u2019ve been seeing these photos of everybody else at that wedding, I am pretty flabbergasted that we didn\u2019t get the invite,\u201d Compton said. \u201cAll these photos I keep seeing, I see [sports writer] Dean Blandino got an invite. Is that real?\u201d<\/p>\n

Compton later doubled down and shared a post by TMZ on X about the wedding snub, writing, \u201cDon\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever seen Dean Blandino at Tight End University.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, as Compton\u2019s post made headlines again, with Page Six writing, \u201cBaby, now they\u2019ve got bad blood\u201d in reference to Swift\u2019s hit song, the retired NFL player decided to clear the air.<\/p>\n

In an X post on Wednesday, Compton said he was \u201cflabbergasted at how many people took this seriously\u201d. \u201cA couple media outlets reached out directly, asking if I\u2019d go on record, if I\u2019ve spoken w Travis, if there are others that are upset. Insanity!!! I was just busting balls,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
