{"id":791847,"date":"2026-07-10T02:18:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T02:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/791847\/"},"modified":"2026-07-10T02:18:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T02:18:10","slug":"26-year-old-left-shot-defenseman-signs-with-the-montreal-canadiens-organization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/791847\/","title":{"rendered":"26-year-old left-shot defenseman signs with the Montreal Canadiens organization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t  &#13;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/675254.webp\" style=\"width:100%;\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Photo of Jake Gravelle.\" title=\"Photo of Jake Gravelle.\"\/>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Photo credit: Screenshot<\/p>\n<p>We have a new signing to share within the Montreal Canadiens organization.<\/p>\n<p>The Trois-Rivi\u00e8res Lions confirmed in the last few hours the return of defenseman Jake Gravelle.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadiens&#8217; ECHL affiliate is building its roster for the 2026-27 season, and it is interesting because it strengthens the organization&#8217;s depth.<\/p>\n<p>It is also another name we could see arrive at the Montreal Canadiens&#8217; training camp in September.<\/p>\n<p>After joining the team midway through last season, Gravelle will now play a full season in a Lions uniform.<\/p>\n<p>The left-shot defenseman played 28 games in the Elite Ice Hockey League this season before returning to Canada on February 5.<\/p>\n<p>In 26 games with the Lions, he recorded nine points, including three goals, while posting a strong +13 rating.<\/p>\n<p>Before turning professional, Gravelle spent four years at Western University.<\/p>\n<p>His university production was impressive: 74 points in 84 games.<\/p>\n<p>The Lions shared the news on their social media:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Trois-Rivi\u00e8res Lions announce the return of Jake Gravelle!<\/p>\n<p>The impact defenseman is back and will play his first full season with the Lions! He will once again bring stability and reliability to the lineup!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>His university career was also highlighted by several honors.<\/p>\n<p>He was named the OUA West Division&#8217;s top defenseman in 2022-23 and was also selected to the OUA Second All-Star Team in 2024-25.<\/p>\n<p>Jake Gravelle earns a spot in the Montreal Canadiens organization, starting with the Lions<\/p>\n<p>A native of North Bay, Ontario, he developed through the OHL junior ranks with Mississauga and Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p>In 130 OHL games, the defenseman totaled 38 points and accumulated 117 penalty minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m really excited to be back in Trois-Rivi\u00e8res this season. Even though I arrived late last year, I absolutely loved my time here,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m looking forward to seeing our fans again.
