{"id":792395,"date":"2026-07-10T08:19:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T08:19:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/792395\/"},"modified":"2026-07-10T08:19:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T08:19:15","slug":"air-canada-737-runs-off-taxiway-at-montreal-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/792395\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Canada 737 runs off taxiway at Montreal airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Operations at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport were disrupted Thursday afternoon after Air Canada Flight 774 from Los Angeles veered off a taxiway after landing.<\/p>\n<p>No one was injured in the incident, but the north runway was closed while the aircraft was evacuated, the airport said.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Flight AC774, from Los Angeles to Montr\u00e9al, operated by a Boeing 737 MAX, exited the taxiway upon landing at <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/yulaeroport?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@yulaeroport<\/a>, at approximately 4pm. There are no reported injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Air Canada (@AirCanada) <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AirCanada\/status\/2075328432469152110?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 9, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Air Canada told The Gazette that Flight AC774 \u201clanded normally\u201d at Montreal-Trudeau before experiencing a \u201ctaxiway excursion\u201d after exiting the runway.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Image-from-iOS.jpg\" alt=\"An Air Canada jet is visible in the grass at an airport.\" class=\"wp-image-100244606\"  \/>An image provided to The Gazette shows an Air Canada jet in the grass at Trudeau Airport on Thursday, July 9, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The airline said the aircraft came to a stop in the grass. No injuries were reported among the 156 passengers and six crew members on board.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers were being transported to the terminal by bus, while plans were being made to tow the aircraft to a hangar for a full inspection, Air Canada said. It later confirmed that all passengers and crew had been safely deplaned and were in the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>NAV Canada, which manages air traffic control, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/navcanada\/status\/2075348730081866021?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">warned<\/a> of \u201cdelays affecting flights at YUL this evening due to reduced runway availability following an aircraft incident and weather in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team is moving aircraft safely, and as quickly as possible,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>Data from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flightradar24.com\/ACA774\/4094c147\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">flight tracking website FlightRadar24<\/a> shows AC774, a Boeing 737 Max 8, landed just before 4 p.m. on Runway 6 Left, then turned onto Taxiway B1 but appears to have overshot a 150-degree right turn onto Taxiway B, which runs parallel to the runway.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"945\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Image-from-iOS-2.jpg\" alt=\"A passenger jet is seen in the grass at an airport.\" class=\"wp-image-100244612\"  \/>An image provided to The Gazette shows an Air Canada jet in the grass at Trudeau Airport on Thursday, July 9, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Rain was falling on the airport at the time of landing.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the taxiway excursion remains under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAir Canada is undertaking a detailed investigation into this incident, and will work with relevant authorities to determine the cause,\u201d the airline said in a statement to The Gazette.<\/p>\n<p>Runway 6L\/24R remained closed Thursday evening, but Runway 6R\/24L was still being used for takeoffs and landings.<\/p>\n<p>The plane involved in the incident was scheduled to fly to San Francisco Thursday evening and back to Montreal on Friday morning.
