Winnipeg saw a marginal increase \u2014 0.9 per cent \u2014 to $1,678, according to a July 2026 Rentals.ca report, which shows June data.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been a steady trend: since February, rent prices have lowered nationally, while Winnipeg has been among the outliers.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/4382656_web1_260113-Page-A5-Rent.jpg\" data-pswp- data-pswp-width=\"2048\" data-pswp-height=\"1365\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/4382656_web1_260113-Page-A5-Rent.jpg\" alt=\"The Canadian Press files&#10;                                Winnipeg saw an increase in the average rent prices of apartments of 0.9 per cent to $1,678 according to a July 2026 Rentals.ca report, which shows June data.\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Press files<\/p>\n<p>Winnipeg saw an increase in the average rent prices of apartments of 0.9 per cent to $1,678 according to a July 2026 Rentals.ca report, which shows June data.<\/p>\n<p>Larger provinces \u2014 Ontario, Quebec \u2014 have driven the change.<\/p>\n<p>The average price of one- and two-bedroom apartments in Manitoba surpasses that of Alberta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe \u2026 need to see more supply come into that market,\u201d Giacomo Ladas, Rentals.ca communications director, said of Manitoba.<\/p>\n<p>A tight rental and housing market are contributing to the higher prices, Ladas said. Meanwhile, Alberta\u2019s housing construction is booming.<\/p>\n<p>The average price of a one-bedroom in Manitoba, in June, was $1,465, according to Rentals.ca. Winnipeg still trails Calgary ($1,886), and Montreal, Halifax, Toronto and Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p>A fix isn\u2019t as simple as building more apartments, said Shauna MacKinnon, a University of Winnipeg urban and inner city studies professor.<\/p>\n<p>New luxury apartments are likely skewing the average higher.
