Will the next Paul Skenes be drafted this year? What about Bryce Harper or Stephen Strasburg? We likely won’t know for several years, but the clock starts Saturday with the 2026 MLB Draft at the Pennsylvania Convention Center Grand Hall in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

The Chicago White Sox won the Draft Lottery over the winter after going 60-102 in 2025, good for MLB’s second-worst record. They’ve drafted No. 1 overall twice in franchise history; they selected Danny Goodwin in 1971 (but did not sign him) and Hall of Famer Harold Baines in 1977. Will UCLA standout Roch Cholowsky be the first name off the board this year? Or will the White Sox go with another name, like Texas high school shortstop Grady Emerson or Georgia Tech catcher Vahn Lackey?<\/p>\n
