Anna Nicole Smith\u2019s ex Larry Birkhead spoke out against the upcoming film \u201cTrust Me, I\u2019m a Doctor,\u201d which tells the story of Dr. Sandeep Kapoor,\u00a0who was implicated in Smith\u2019s 2007 death.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe absolutely object to any of Anna Nicole\u2019s, my life, my daughter\u2019s life being used in a movie,\u201d Birkhead told \u201cEntertainment Tonight\u201d<\/a> in a new interview.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd being made characters out of someone [who] was a doctor that supposedly people were supposed to trust.\u201d<\/p>\n Larry Birkhead (seen above with Anna Nicole Smith in 2003) spoke out against the new biopic about the late model. \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n Birkhead (pictured above with Smith in 2004) said he \u201cabsolutely objects\u201d to \u201cTrust Me, I\u2019m a Doctor,\u201d which is based on Dr. Sandeep Kapoor\u2019s 2017 book. \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n \u201cTrust Me, I\u2019m a Doctor\u201d is based on Kapoor\u2019s 2017 book, in which he details his experience being Smith\u2019s primary physician before her drug overdose at age 39.<\/a><\/p>\n Kapoor was charged with illegally funneling excessive prescription drugs to the Playboy model, but he was acquitted following a 2010 trial. Kal Penn is playing Kapoor in the film.<\/p>\n Birkhead, who dated Smith from 2003 to 2006<\/a> and is the father of her 19-year-old daughter, Dannielynn<\/a>, told \u201cET\u201d he tried to stop Kapoor from making the new biopic.<\/p>\n Smith (seen above at the \u201cBe Cool\u201d premiere in 2005) died of a drug overdose in 2007. Kapoor was her doctor. WireImage<\/p>\n Birkhead (seen above with daughter Dannielynn at the 2025 Kentucky Derby) said he tried to stop Kapoor from making the movie. I warned them about the harm and the emotional distress that this puts on not just myself but also, most importantly, Dannielynn, and how this could impact her and the things that she sees,\u201d the 53-year-old photographer shared.<\/p>\n Birkhead also noted Smith\u2019s story \u201chas been done several times\u201d before, including a \u201cLaw & Order\u201d episode and a 2013 Lifetime movie starring Agnes Bruckner.<\/p>\n Abbie Cornish, who plays Smith in \u201cTrust Me, I\u2019m a Doctor,\u201d doesn\u2019t have Birkhead\u2019s stamp of approval, either. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m sure she\u2019s probably a nice girl and a great actress. But I don\u2019t think she quite embodied Anna Nicole,\u201d Birkhead stated. \u201cAnd that\u2019s not really an attack on her.\u201d<\/p>\n Kapoor (seen above in 2014) was acquitted on the charges related to Smith\u2019s death after a 2010 trial.
