What does the Lucky Trinket do in Pok\u00e9mon Go?<\/p>\n

The Lucky Trinket is a one-time-only item you can use to instantly turn one player your Great Friends or higher with into a Lucky Friend in Pok\u00e9mon Go. You don’t even have to be best friends! This means you can guarantee a Lucky Trade with one other player – though the Lucky Friend<\/a> status will vanish after this trade as per normal. There are, however, a number of rules you need to follow, because something this nice doesn’t come without a few catches.<\/p>\n

Here are the Lucky Trinket rules and, seriously, pay attention to the first one:<\/p>\n

The Lucky Trinket has an expiration date – make sure you use it before this date.
\nAs mentioned, the Lucky Trinket can only be used once.
\nYou must be Great Friends or higher with the player you’re using the Lucky Trinket on.
\nYou can not use it on players you’re already Lucky Friends with.
\nThe Lucky Trinket does not change the trade distance requirement.
\nYou can disable other players’ ability to use a Lucky Trinket on you in the Pok\u00e9mon Go settings.<\/p>\n

As you can see from the rules above, the Lucky Trinket is only really worth something if you know other Pok\u00e9mon Go players in real life since it doesn’t negate the trading distance<\/a> requirement. If you do play solo and end up with a Lucky Trinket, then consider joining a local Pok\u00e9mon Go group or using the Campsite app to find other players before the expiry date. Just keep in mind that you will need to be Great Friends<\/a> with the player first, so make sure you’ve both sent and opened a Gift<\/a> first to ensure you’re at the right level.<\/p>\n

No matter whether you’re part of a group or play solo, it’s also a good idea to coordinate with who you’re using the Lucky Trinket on to make the most out of your Lucky Trade.<\/p>\n

With this in mind, the Lucky Trinket is used by finding it within and selecting it from your Storage. Once you’ve done this, follow through the instruction and ensure you select the correct player to use it on. If you’ve done it correctly, this player should now be your Lucky Friend!<\/p>\n

Go Fest 2026: Global<\/a> has arrived! There’s two quests – Genetic Mastery<\/a> and A Thunderous Discovery<\/a> – plus you’ll want to know the habitat hour and raid schedule<\/a>. Take the time to add Bouffalant and Tropius<\/a> to your Pok\u00e9dex too. Don’t forget about the Mega Mewtwo Y<\/a> and Mega Mewtwo X counters<\/a> as well.

\nThere’s a lot to do in Pok\u00e9mon Go outside of the current event! From the Go Battle League<\/a>, Remote Trading<\/a>, Pok\u00e9Stop Showcase<\/a>, Routes<\/a> and Max Battles<\/a>. Don’t forget to catch rare Pok\u00e9mon<\/a> while you’re at it.

How to get the Lucky Trinket in Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/p>\n

To get the Lucky Trinket in Pok\u00e9mon Go you need to reach Rank 100 in the free Go Pass track: Road to Legends (whereas previously it was only part of the paid tier Deluxe track).<\/p>\n

This means that the Lucky Trinket is free, if you’re willing to put in the work to reach Rank 100. Keep in mind that this will take a decent amount of effort to reach before each Go Pass season ends. Remember, you can check how long you’ve got left of a season by looking at the top of the current Go Pass rewards chain.<\/p>\n

Now is the best time to work towards the Lucky Trinket as it’s free (yes we keep saying that but it’s important!) However, there’s a catch, the deadline for progressing through the current Go Pass is Sunday 12th July at 7pm (local time), so you should make the most of Go Fest 2026: Global<\/a> to climb as many tiers as you can as fast as you can.<\/p>\n
