{"id":795625,"date":"2026-07-11T19:35:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T19:35:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/795625\/"},"modified":"2026-07-11T19:35:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T19:35:08","slug":"chl-notes-mitchell-satan-tkach-tkachenko-pro-hockey-rumors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/795625\/","title":{"rendered":"CHL Notes: Mitchell, Satan, Tkach-Tkachenko \u2013 Pro Hockey Rumors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"byline\">\n  By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prohockeyrumors.com\/author\/brianlarose\" title=\"Posts by Brian La Rose\" rel=\"author nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brian La Rose<\/a> |<br \/>\n  at July 11, 2026 11:25 am  <\/p>\n<p>Long-time NHL veteran John Mitchell is getting his first significant coaching opportunity.\u00a0 QMJHL Charlottetown <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/chl.ca\/lhjmq-islanders\/article\/islanders-name-john-mitchell-head-coach\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announced<\/a> that they\u2019ve hired him as their new head coach.\u00a0 Mitchell was a fifth-round pick by Toronto back in 2003, making his NHL debut five years later, getting into 548 career games over parts of nine seasons.\u00a0 He then spent parts of two seasons in Germany before calling it a career after the 2018-19 campaign.\u00a0 To this point, Mitchell\u2019s only coaching experience has come in Colorado\u2019s AAA system (starting in 2020-21) but that will soon be changing.<\/p>\n<p>Other news from the junior ranks:<\/p>\n<p>Capitals prospect <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/806027\/miroslav-satan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Miroslav Satan<\/a> won\u2019t be staying in the CHL for 2026-27. HK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas in Slovakia <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/story.php?story_fbid=1611993604260602&amp;id=100063499335867\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announced<\/a> on their Facebook page that the winger has joined the team for the upcoming season.\u00a0 Satan was a seventh-round pick back in 2024 out of Slovakia\u2019s junior system, giving Washington four years of team control.\u00a0 The son of a long-time NHLer by the same name, Satan split last season between OHL Saginaw and QMJHL Chicoutimi, tallying six points in 53 games between the two teams.\u00a0 At this point, it seems rather unlikely that he\u2019ll be signed over the next couple of years, barring a significant improvement in his play and production.<br \/>\nMammoth goaltender <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/901356\/ivan-tkach-tkachenko\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ivan Tkach-Tkachenko<\/a> is on the move as OHL Sarnia <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/chl.ca\/ohl-sting\/article\/sting-sign-nhl-drafted-goaltender-ivan-tkach-tkachenko\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announced<\/a> that they\u2019ve signed him for the 2026-27 season.
