{"id":797379,"date":"2026-07-12T16:24:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-12T16:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/797379\/"},"modified":"2026-07-12T16:24:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T16:24:16","slug":"report-95-chance-hellebuyck-is-traded-this-offseason","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/797379\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: 95% Chance Hellebuyck Is Traded This Offseason"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Social Media Feature Preview\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/HLsYVlQWUAAbpzx.jpeg\"\/>It&#8217;ll be a tough pill for Winnipeg Jets fans to hear, but according to longtime Jets beat writer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winnipegfreepress.com\/briefings\/hellebuyck-footy-ai-and-more\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mike McInytre of the Winnipeg Free Press<\/a>, Connor Hellebuyck is almost certainly getting traded this summer.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhltraderumors.me\/2026\/06\/report-buffalo-sabres-reject-winnipeg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Talks were held with the Buffalo Sabres<\/a> around the time of the NHL Draft, though nothing came to pass. The Carolina Hurricanes were involved at one point, and the Colorado Avalanche have entered the discussions more recently.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At some point, one of these teams may crack and give the Jets the deservedly high price they&#8217;re asking for. McIntyre is certain of it.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, he feels there&#8217;s a greater than 95% chance of the league&#8217;s best goalie getting dealt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I firmly believe Connor Hellebuyck is going to be traded. In fact, I\u2019d put the odds somewhere north of 95 per cent. I just don\u2019t know exactly when, or to whom&#8230;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The writing is on the wall here in Winnipeg.\u00a0Hellebuyck is (almost certainly) moving on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McIntyre cites two pretty convincing arguments that have his odds so high of a move.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They let Hellebuyck&#8217;s backup and best friend, Eric Comrie, leave in free agency.\u00a0The Jets&#8217; signing of UFA goalie Stuart Skinner. What makes this a glaring sign, in addition to the fact that Skinner has been a starter throughout his career and would expect to be one again in signing his two-year deal with Winnipeg, is the fact that he and Hellebuyck share the same agent:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Skinner\u2019s agent, Ray Petkau, is also Hellebuyck\u2019s agent (and Comrie\u2019s!). You think he\u2019s selling Skinner on the concept of Winnipeg if he thinks Hellebuyck is still going to be here?
