Mitch McConnell of Kentucky on Sunday announced, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/07\/07\/politics\/mitch-mcconnell-hospitalization-health\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">weeks of speculation<\/a>, that he had a fall last month that landed him in the hospital.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmrib444u00003b6r61vbsck8@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cMy doctors have confirmed that I didn\u2019t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn\u2019t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don\u2019t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I\u2019ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia,\u201d he said in a statement.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmribf2vv000n3b6r3my8qryx@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            McConnell said he\u2019s moved from a hospital to a rehabilitation center to continue regaining his strength.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmribg7ry000p3b6rsdtqsll8@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The former Senate majority leader said he \u201cwon\u2019t be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet\u201d but he\u2019s \u201cbeen working closely\u201d with legislative staff in the meantime.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmrib20lg002y28pe9ep1bdre@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            This is a developing story and will be updated.\n    <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Republican Sen.
