{"id":798971,"date":"2026-07-13T11:40:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T11:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/798971\/"},"modified":"2026-07-13T11:40:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T11:40:09","slug":"goldeyes-top-railcats-extend-win-streak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/798971\/","title":{"rendered":"Goldeyes top RailCats, extend win streak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Winnipeg Goldeyes (25-26) will enter the All-Star break on a four-game winning streak after defeating the Gary SouthShore RailCats 8-5 at Blue Cross Park Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/rFY8VjIiZPf?e=68b67219e9&amp;c2id=9b6391a6b886821ee6e755dd7f9f4355\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boxscore<\/a><br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWinnipeg took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when designated hitter\u00a0Keshawn Lynch\u00a0doubled into the left-field corner, scoring third baseman\u00a0Ram\u00f3n Bramasco\u00a0and second baseman\u00a0Adam Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The Goldeyes added a run in the second on a solo home run to left-centre by shortstop\u00a0Ray-Patrick Didder. It was his third in as many games and tenth of the season, tying him with centre fielder\u00a0Noah Marcelo\u00a0for the team lead.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nGary SouthShore (22-30) got on the board in the top of the third inning when shortstop Elvis Peralta hit a two-out solo home run to left field, trimming Winnipeg\u2019s lead to 3-1.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nRight fielder\u00a0Max Murphy\u00a0brought Lynch home with a base hit to left in the bottom of the sixth to give the Goldeyes a three-run cushion. The RailCats made it a two-run game shortly thereafter when centre fielder Korry Howell hit a solo home run to right-centre in the top of the seventh.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWinnipeg scored four times in the bottom of the frame to take an 8-2 lead. Bramasco\u2019s bloop single to right-centre drove in left fielder\u00a0Roby Enr\u00edquez. Marcelo lined a base hit to left-centre to plate Didder, and Hall singled up the middle to bring in Bramasco and Marcelo.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe visitors did not go quietly, however. Left fielder Kevin Watson Jr. hit a two-run home run to left in the eighth, and designated hitter Marc Flores followed with a solo home run to left in the ninth that cut the Goldeyes\u2019 lead to 8-5. Winnipeg closer\u00a0Derrick Cherry\u00a0(S, 8) ensured the RailCats got no closer.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nRyo Kohigashi\u00a0(W, 4-2) allowed one run on five hits over six innings of work. He struck out seven and walked four. The left-hander pitched out of trouble on several occasions, benefiting from an inning-ending double play in the second while stranding three RailCats in the fourth and two more in the fifth. In addition to Cherry,\u00a0James Bradwell\u00a0and\u00a0Eli Saul\u00a0appeared out of the bullpen for the Goldeyes.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nDominic Cancellieri (L, 2-6) pitched effectively in defeat for Gary SouthShore.
