TEMPE, Ariz. (SMU) \u2013\u00a0SMU Men’s Tennis was named Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team and six team members earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors as announced by the association on Monday.
\n\u00a0
\nTo earn the ITA All-Academic Team distinction, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or over for the entire 2025-26 academic year.
\n\u00a0
\nAlong with the team award, eight Mustangs were named 2026 Division I Men’s ITA Scholar-Athletes based on their athletic and academic achievements. The Mustangs receiving individual awards are\u00a0Jerry Barton<\/a>, Alex Finkelstein<\/a>, Georgi Georgiev<\/a>, Vikas Deo<\/a>, Matthew Faraci<\/a> and Alex Stafford<\/a>.

\nTo earn the ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the entire academic year.

\nThis award is Barton and Deo’s third academic honor of the season. They were named CSC Academic All-District Team in May before earning All-ACC Academic Team honors earlier this month.
