Two-weight world champion Andre Ward<\/a> appears to be on the verge of making a sensational comeback to boxing.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old from San Francisco, California has not fought as a professional since he defeated Sergey Kovalev via eighth round stoppage in their rematch back in 2017 to successfully defend his unified WBA, WBO and IBF light-heavyweight titles.<\/p>\n

Ward announced his retirement from the sport shortly after, drawing the curtain on his decorated professional career with an unbeaten record of 32-0 to his name, defeating the likes of Carl Froch<\/a>, Mikkel Kessler and Arthur Abraham along the way.<\/p>\n

In an exchange with two-time world title challenger Andre Dirrell<\/a>, Ward hinted that a shock return to the sport could be on the cards as he admits he has started training once again, as he claims he has already been \u2018back in the gym\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI already been in the gym \u2026 Just because you not in shape, you think I\u2019m not in shape? We not the same. You don\u2019t know what I been doing. I wish you understood what I was actually doing bro, I wish you understood, you gotta get off this internet way, just because you don\u2019t see it you think it ain\u2019t gonna happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ward took to social media last week to make a sensational call-out to two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua<\/a>, claiming that a Wembley Stadium showdown with the 35-year-old would tempt him out of retirement.<\/p>\n
