{"id":80181,"date":"2025-08-19T02:54:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T02:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/80181\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T02:54:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T02:54:08","slug":"pga-tour-liv-golf-share-youtube-tvs-multiview-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/80181\/","title":{"rendered":"PGA Tour, LIV Golf share YouTube TV&#8217;s &#8216;Multiview&#8217; experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">SBJ\u2019s Josh Carpenter was struck on Friday afternoon when he turned on the TV to see both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/18\/liv-golf-continues-making-concerts-core-part-of-tournament-experience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/18\/liv-golf-continues-making-concerts-core-part-of-tournament-experience\">LIV Golf<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/12\/bmw-championship-maintaining-status-as-upper-tier-pga-tour-event\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/12\/bmw-championship-maintaining-status-as-upper-tier-pga-tour-event\">the PGA Tour<\/a> side-by-side in YouTube TV\u2019s \u201cMultiview\u201d offering. The tours have only gone head-to-head on TV a handful of times since LIV\u2019s move to Fox, and this is the first time we had seen them on Multiview. They were also side-by-side on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">LIV and the PGA Tour are going head-to-head in three consecutive weeks. LIV events in Chicago, Indianapolis and Michigan are competing for eyeballs with the PGA Tour\u2019s FedExCup Playoffs in Memphis, Baltimore and Atlanta this coming weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">What was the experience? Well, golf fans will be shocked to hear: plenty of commercials, of multiple varieties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">Both the local Fox affiliate and Golf Channel were often in full commercial breaks at the same time during the 90 minutes or so Carpenter watched. And at one point, Golf Channel was in a \u201cPlaying Through\u201d commercial break while the local Fox affiliate broke in with a special report on President Trump\u2019s meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">It also illustrated how much golf broadcasts have changed over the years. At times on Friday it felt like there were 15 different graphics or sets of data on the screen between the Fox and Golf Channel broadcasts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">So, as much as things change, they stay the same.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">We were curious how YouTube TV selects the various Multiview options, so we reached out to a YouTube TV spokesperson. \u201cOur teams identify the most popular events for Multiview, focusing primarily on events from the same sport, such as PGA Tour\/LIV Golf in this instance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">The golf world has been longing for years now to have the best players competing in one place.
