From boxing, strength training to cardio and MMA, her fitness regime never looks monotonous.Rather than sticking to one workout style, the actress embraces everything from weight training to boxing and outdoor activities. The Euphoria famed actress has made her name starring in a number of movies like Christy, Immaculate, The Voyeurs.Sydney’s fitness story started way before she opened the doors of Hollywood. When she moved to LA as a teenager, Sydney discovered martial arts and found it was a perfect combo of physical training with mental focus. The different factor about Sydney is, she changes her routine based on her goals. But what exactly her routine looks like. Let’s have a look.

Sydney loves boxing

The time when Sydney was preparing for the role of Christy, she gave it all for championing boxing. Boxing is a full-body workout that builds coordination, power and mental grit.Sydney hits the gym for around 3-4 times a week which is followed up by a run of 60-90 minutes. She trains like a real fighter would do: dynamic warm-up, technical mitt work or heavy bag drills, then finishing with boxing-specific conditioning. Her defined arms and back gives a good proof to her well built upper body for which she works really hard. She throws jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts; all moves that light up your delts, triceps, biceps, and back muscles. Beyond boxing she also incorporates shoulder presses, tricep extensions and bicep curls.

Core-strengthening moves

Sydney’s training shows she gets her power for boxing from her core strength. For core strengthening her routine packs in planks, Russian twists, and medicine ball rotations that build the ab strength which is needed to generate power while protecting our spine. She doesn’t only focus on crunches for looks, instead vests time on functional core moves that actually help her box better. The most essential and striking part of her core strength workout is rotational movements that copy punching mechanics.Cable rotations and medicine ball throws develop the obliques and deep core muscles create rotational power in punches. This functional approach highlights the actor’s visible abs and the athletic performance for believable fight scenes.

MMA

Sydney is well known for her participation in MMA. Before even being familiar with boxing, she was into MMA. When she was 13-years-old, Sydney’s mother drove her to a MMA academy in Los Angeles.Sydney had the competency to beat the boys as well. During the time of shooting Christy, his trainer told Daily Mail,”Sydney was a tough, competitive person,” Chivichyan told Daily Mail. “And yes, it’s true. She would beat up guys.”He goes on explaining that the gym was extremely male dominated with “99% male”. It was that kind of place where people “get knocked out”. But Sydney went against all the odds and trained really well. “She wasn’t a crybaby,” he said. “She trained hard, sweat dripping down her face, hair messy, and she didn’t care. We treated her like any other student and when new guys joined, she would beat a lot of them up.”Sydney’s MMA training included everything it could: striking, grappling and ground fighting.

The varieties in cardio

Sydney never feared bulking up. She did proper rigorous training where she lifted 2–3 times weekly, focusing on full-body sessions instead of body-part splits. When her schedule allows, Sydney starts steady-pace runs lasting 20-49 minutes that activates her body. She performs swimming which provides low-impact cardio that’s easy on joints after intense boxing sessions. Sydney uses pool workouts for active recovery, maintaining cardiovascular fitness without beating up her body.Water based exercises are fun cardio that jeep fitness enjoyable rather than monotonic and tiresome.

Image credit: Instagram/@sydney-sweeney Sydney Sweeney’s workout routine is saturated with a number of exercises.
