beabadoobee<\/a> has released \u201cSwitchblade<\/a>,\u201d the second song from her highly anticipated forthcoming album Pylon<\/a>, a record that\u2019s more wide-ranging and complex than anything she\u2019s ever put out \u2014 a tannic rock record that is, at various points, angry, lonesome, ecstatic, depressed and deeply, pathologically in love.<\/p>\n

\u201cSwitchblade\u201d takes its central metaphor and pulls it apart thoroughly, wondering whether \u201cself-defense is to be brave\/Do you start the fight\/Or take the flight?\u201d The song has no clear answers, with beabadoobee (Beatrice Laus) emphatically past the point at which she thought she could ever have everything figured out.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Pylon, for all its turbulent emotions, celebrates the not-knowing; its brilliance suggests that sitting with uncertainty can create something immense, both emotionally and sonically. Its vast array of feelings, often contradictory ones, is the point, says beabadoobee: \u201cPylon is about accepting that negative feelings are going to come back \u2014 accepting the insecurity and feeling confused. It\u2019s all a necessary part of growing and knowing yourself better. You have to go through all that shit, I have to write about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The follow up to her UK number 1 album This Is How Tomorrow Moves, Pylon is available to pre-order and pre-save now, and will be released on September 18, 2026 via Dirty Hit and Interscope Records. \u201cSwitchblade\u201d follows the album\u2019s first single \u201cSun Has Set,\u201d released to universal acclaim last month alongside a striking first-person video directed by Bea\u2019s partner and longtime visual collaborator Jake Erland.<\/p>\n

beabadoobee will debut songs from the record on The Powerlines Tour, her first ever arena shows and biggest tour to date, taking in shows across North America, the UK and Europe this fall-winter.
