{"id":803997,"date":"2026-07-15T18:29:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T18:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/803997\/"},"modified":"2026-07-15T18:29:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T18:29:09","slug":"gordie-howe-bridge-to-open-to-pedestrians-and-cyclists-in-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/803997\/","title":{"rendered":"Gordie Howe Bridge to open to pedestrians and cyclists in August"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cyclists and pedestrians can start crossing the Gordie Howe International Bridge on August 5, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority announced the opening day for the multi-use trail through its social media on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The multi-use path will be toll-free and includes one lane that will accommodate two-way pedestrian and cyclist traffic.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. and Canadian ports of entry will have separate processing facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.<\/p>\n<p>The bridge opens for vehicular traffic on July 27, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The six-lane cable-stayed bridge extends approximately 2.5 kilometres.<\/p>\n<p>The $6.4 billion project was originally set to open in the fall of 2024, but was delayed several times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Cyclists and pedestrians can start crossing the Gordie Howe International Bridge on August 5, 2026.
