{"id":804397,"date":"2026-07-15T22:41:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T22:41:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/804397\/"},"modified":"2026-07-15T22:41:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T22:41:18","slug":"cameron-heights-fire-community-rallies-to-help-families-whose-homes-were-damaged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/804397\/","title":{"rendered":"Cameron Heights fire: Community rallies to help families whose homes were damaged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Edmontonians in the community of Cameron Heights are doing what they can to help the families devastated by <a href=\"https:\/\/edmonton.citynews.ca\/2026\/07\/14\/2-houses-damages-in-fire-in-edmontons-cameron-heights-neighbourhood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Tuesday afternoon\u2019s fire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Two homes on Cameron Ravine Way and Cameron Ravine Drive were damaged by flames, leaving those families with heavy losses.<\/p>\n<p>The Cameron Heights Community League has organized a relief effort and is collecting items like toiletries, clothing, pet food and chargers. The items are being assembled at the community league\u2019s hall.<\/p>\n<p>Donations of grocery store and pharmacy gift cards are also being requested.<\/p>\n<p>A bakery in the neighbourhood, Malina Ukrainian Bakery, stepped up by offering food and drink to the families.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the community league\u2019s board of directors set up an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/help-families-affected-by-the-cameron-heights-fire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">online fundraiser<\/a> that\u2019s raised more than $11,000 since it was created.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring this incredibly difficult time, we are asking our community to come together and support those affected,\u201d the fundraiser reads. \u201cEvery donation, no matter the size, will help provide essential items and assist these families as they begin the long process of rebuilding their lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for your kindness, compassion, and generosity.
