{"id":805942,"date":"2026-07-16T15:49:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T15:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/805942\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T15:49:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T15:49:12","slug":"police-seek-witnesses-in-hit-and-run-of-teen-cyclist-in-southwest-edmonton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/805942\/","title":{"rendered":"Police seek witnesses in hit-and-run of teen cyclist in southwest Edmonton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police are turning to the public for help in their investigation of a hit-and-run that injured a 15-year-old cyclist in southwest Edmonton on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>It happened at the intersection of Desrochers Boulevard and Desrochers Drive around 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Edmonton Police Service says the teen was crossing Desrochers Drive using a marked crosswalk when a vehicle going fast \u201cfailed to stop for the stop sign and struck the cyclist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle \u2013 described as a light silver four-door sedan, possibly an older Volkswagen \u2013 continued south on Desrochers Drive, then turned west on 41 Avenue. The suspect vehicle could have front-end damage, police say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe complete disregard shown by the driver of this vehicle after striking this child is appalling,\u201d said Staff Sgt.
