The Great Winnipeg Sundae Search<\/a> served up by Manitoba Museum<\/a> continues as the CHVN family is on the hunt for the best ice cream sundae in Winnipeg.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The fourth stop brought CHVN’s Angela Peacock, Faith Adeyemi, Craig Neufeld, and Kevin Hughes to Dug & Betty’s\u00a0Ice Creamery, at\u00a0309 Des Meurons Street in St. Boniface.<\/p>\n

Chris Kirouac from Dug & Betty’s made the CHVN team a signature sundae.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Our Bad Betty Sunday starts off with three scoops of our Earl Grey ice cream. It’s like a London fog ice cream where we steamed our milk.

\nThen we drizzle caramel and Nutella on top, and top it off with a rocky road brownie, house-made marshmallow fluff, and a cherry on top,”\u00a0Kirouac says.<\/p>\n

Inspiration behind the name<\/p>\n

They say a dog is a man’s best friend; that rings true for the team at Dug & Betty’s.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We’re named after two basset hounds. My dad, the owner, Fern, named the place after his two dogs. So we have Dug and Betty. So we have our Bad Betty Sundae, but we also have the Dashing Dug Sundae.<\/p>\n

“The dashing Dug sundae is vanilla ice cream,\u00a0peanut butter sauce, caramel sauce, some Spanish peanuts,\u00a0chunks of our Dashing Dug blondie, which is another square we make, but more of a blondie style, and then top it off with whipped cream and a cherry.”<\/p>\n

At Dug & Betty’s,\u00a0Kirouac says they are all about fun and creativity. “We have\u00a0our famous sour cherry with dark chocolate. We make a mean pistachio gelato. We have probably one of the largest house-made small-batch ice cream menus in the city. So tons for listeners to come and check out.”<\/p>\n

Kirouac says Dug and Betty’s has grown since first opening. “We started off with a menu that had maybe 20 ice creams, but next thing you know, there are 38 ice creams and I’m still making more. Now I’m having the problem where I don’t know what flavours I don’t want to offer anymore. It’s all about fun and creativity.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Summer programming continues at Manitoba Museum<\/p>\n

As summer ramps up, there is a lot happening at the Manitoba Museum. “We have so many wonderful fun things for families,”\u00a0Brandi Hayberg,\u00a0Manager of Marketing & Communications at Manitoba Museum says. “We have so many hands-on activities every afternoon and they’re rotating. So every day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., you can explore artifacts one day, fossils another day.”<\/p>\n

As the activities rotate, Hayberg says more than one trip to the museum is needed. “Coming once, you’re not going to see and experience absolutely everything.
