Savannah Guthrie is skipping town just one day after an intruder lunged at co-anchor Craig Melvin<\/a> at the \u201cToday\u201d show offices earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Guthrie and her husband, Michael Feldman, were photographed Friday preparing to leave the Big Apple at New York City\u2019s LaGuardia Airport.<\/p>\n

The anchor, 54, kept a low profile in a beige Celine bucket hat, jeans, sneakers and a black sweater for the outing. At one point, she was seen checking her phone, and in another snapshot, she took a sip from a water bottle.<\/p>\n

Guthrie, whose elderly mother Nancy went missing in February<\/a>, found the security breach the day prior \u201cincredibly triggering,\u201d the Daily Mail reports<\/a>, despite the fact that it took place shortly after she left the building Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe timing couldn\u2019t have been more heartbreaking,\u201d a source told the outlet Friday. \u201cHow much more can one person take?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter everything Savannah has endured with her family, this happened just moments after she walked off the set. It hit everyone hard, but it hit differently for her,\u201d they added. <\/p>\n

During the incident, the intruder \u2014 later identified as Andrew Truelove \u2014 stormed the building looking for Al Roker and instead found Melvin. He allegedly hurled a racial slur during the encounter, calling Melvin the N-word, and is now facing a slew of hate crime<\/a> charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis couldn\u2019t have come at a worse time for her emotionally after everything she\u2019s been through this year,\u201d a second source told the Daily Mail of Guthrie. \u201cEven though she had just left, just knowing it happened at her workplace is enough to shake anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Guthrie was preparing to step away for \u201ca few weeks\u201d<\/a> to film the network\u2019s upcoming Wordle game show, prior to the incident and announced her upcoming hiatus the same morning the intruder sent shockwaves through the \u201cToday\u201d studio.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is relieved she\u2019s taking the next few weeks off to film another project,\u201d the source claimed to the outlet. \u201cShe\u2019ll get some distance from all of this while everyone back here catches their breath.\u201d<\/p>\n

The insider added that \u201cnobody would blame Savannah if she decided she needed more time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s been carrying an enormous emotional burden, and this was another shock,\u201d they continued. \u201cThe feeling inside the show is that everyone wants her to put herself first.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though the outlet reported security at the \u201cToday\u201d show had been \u201cbeefed up,\u201d and the building was \u201ctightening every loophole,\u201d sources also told the Daily Mail that \u201cSavannah\u2019s personal protection has also been increased.\u201d<\/p>\n

One source told the outlet that, \u201cThe whole newsroom is protective of Savannah right now. People are worried less about the show and more about her. They just want her to be okay.\u201d <\/p>\n

Page Six exclusively reported Thursday that NBC News fired one of the security guards<\/a> who allegedly allowed the crazed intruder to get into the \u201cToday\u201d show studios.<\/p>\n

Melvin and Roker have also since been granted protective orders against Truelove<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Guthrie is stepping away from the \u201cToday\u201d show for \u201ca few weeks\u201d to film a Wordle game show for NBC. T.JACKSON \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n

A rep for Guthrie did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment on Friday evening.<\/p>\n

The security incident came as the journalist has continued to navigate the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, who disappeared from her Arizona home following a family outing and was reported missing on Feb. 1.<\/p>\n

Guthrie has\u00a0made multiple social media pleas <\/a>alongside her siblings, Camron and Annie, for information about the case \u2014 even offering a $1 million reward<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Though surveillance images from a camera at Nancy\u2019s front door revealed terrifying images of a masked intruder, the case remains unsolved. <\/p>\n

Guthrie returned to the \u201cToday\u201d\u00a0<\/a>show on April 6 after a hiatus.<\/p>\n
