A trade discussed with the San Jose Sharks has just been revealed in detail by respected insider Elliotte Friedman.

It involves a Sharks prospect who is already drawing significant interest around the NHL trade market.

The exclusive information was revealed on the 32 Thoughts podcast.

“That Igor Chernyshov kid… Vancouver really wanted him in the Kiefer Sherwood deal,” he revealed

At just 20 years old, the forward is already giving scouts plenty to be excited about.

He recorded 19 points in 28 games last season, an extremely promising pace, while also adding 33 points in 41 AHL games.

The other piece of the story, Kiefer Sherwood, is no stranger around the NHL.

The 31-year-old veteran recorded 36 points in 72 games last season and fits the profile of the type of power winger teams are actively looking to acquire.

Canadiens fans can forget about pairing Igor Chernyshov with Ivan Demidov

The fact that Chernyshov remained with San Jose speaks volumes.

If some Montreal Canadiens fans were hoping to see the talented young Russian arrive in Montreal to play alongside Ivan Demidov, they can forget that idea.

The real test is quickly approaching for Chernyshov, who is expected to begin his first full NHL season in just a few weeks alongside Will Smith, Macklin Celebrini, and company.

I’m honestly really looking forward to seeing how he performs.

He’s definitely a name to remember.

Previously on Montreal Hockey Fanatics
