The general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Don Waddell, has just made some very interesting revelations in an interview.<\/p>\n

Let’s recall the information that had been revealed on this subject.<\/p>\n

It was strictly between the Montreal Canadiens and the Jackets for the acquisition of Noah Dobson, and both teams were offering two 1st-round picks in 2025 (plus another young player) in exchange for the 25-year-old star defenseman.<\/p>\n

In Columbus, the offer was: the 14th overall pick, the 20th overall pick and young Dmitri Voronkov?<\/p>\n

At least, that’s what we thought!<\/p>\n

That’s what several well-known insiders had reported.<\/p>\n

In the end, Don Waddell has just denied it all.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jackets were a Voronkov away from prying Noah Dobson from the Montreal Canadiens, according to Don Waddell<\/p>\n

That’s exactly what their general manager has just suggested.<\/p>\n

“The name of Dmitry Voronkov<\/a> came up in the trade talks for Noah Dobson but we always said no.<\/p>\n

The reported information was wrong.<\/p>\n

If we had agreed to trade Voronkov, we would have been the ones to acquire Dobson, but we weren’t ready to let him go.”<\/p>\n

Well, that’s interesting!<\/p>\n

Voronkov, 24 years old, is a 6-foot-5, 227-pound forward who collected 47 points in 73 games last season, including 23 goals.<\/p>\n

He is a 4th-round pick of the Blue Jackets in 2019.<\/p>\n
