The United States launched a new wave of strikes against Iran on Saturday night, Central Command (CENTCOM<\/a>) announced on X\/Twitter, marking the eighth consecutive night of attacks.<\/p>\n

“The strikes are designed to further degrade Iran\u2019s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan last night,” CENTCOM wrote.<\/p>\n

Iranian media reported that the US military had targeted an area near the city of Hajiabad. Explosions were also heard near Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island, according to Iranian news outlet IRNA, and Tasnim reported that the US had struck a location near Shadegan.<\/p>\n

Later, Iranian state television cited the Iranian Army as saying that it had targeted two US military bases in Kuwait.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the strikes, CENTCOM announced that it had successfully hit Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites, as well as the IRGC forces who had launched the attacks on US soldiers in Jordan.<\/p>\n

Earlier, CENTCOM had announced<\/a> that two US service members were killed in action, one is missing in action, and four were injured during Iranian strikes on Friday in Jordan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The four injured service members were evacuated to Jordanian<\/a> hospitals and have since been discharged, the statement added.<\/p>\n

“Other personnel who were evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
