{"id":812019,"date":"2026-07-19T11:12:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-19T11:12:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/812019\/"},"modified":"2026-07-19T11:12:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T11:12:14","slug":"luke-wilson-on-the-family-stone-sequel-i-cant-believe-its-happening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/812019\/","title":{"rendered":"Luke Wilson On &#8216;The Family Stone&#8217; Sequel: &#8220;I Can&#8217;t Believe It&#8217;s Happening&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/luke-wilson\/\" id=\"auto-tag_luke-wilson\" data-tag=\"luke-wilson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luke Wilson<\/a> is sharing an update on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-family-stone\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-family-stone\" data-tag=\"the-family-stone\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Family Stone<\/a>\u00a0sequel that <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/tom-bezucha\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tom-bezucha\" data-tag=\"tom-bezucha\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Bezucha<\/a> is writing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBezucha, who wrote and directed the 2005 holiday film, revealed that he was <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/11\/the-family-stone-writer-director-penning-sequel-1236623888\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">penning a sequel<\/a> after <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/diane-keaton\/\" id=\"auto-tag_diane-keaton\" data-tag=\"diane-keaton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Diane Keaton<\/a> died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cTom Bezucha is a great writer and a great director, and I read the script, and it\u2019s really funny, and it\u2019s so nice that everybody wants to work together again,\u201d Wilson said in an interview with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vVdRD9eOdoY\">Entertainment Tonight<\/a>. \u201cAnd I think you know, after the death of Diane Keaton, it\u2019ll be even more meaningful because she was so great to be around on the first one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWilson reminisced about why the Christmas-themed movie became so beloved, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s one of those movies where, when it came out, you know, it\u2019s just one of those things when, over the years, more people mentioned it to me, and then families would say \u2018We watch it at Christmas\u2019 or \u2018We watch it at Thanksgiving.\u2019 It really caught me by surprise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFollowing Keaton\u2019s death at the age of 79, Bezucha told <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/11\/19\/entertainment\/family-stone-sequel-thomas-bezucha-diane-keaton\">CNN<\/a>, \u201cI\u2019ve been haunted by the loss of Sybil for months now while I worked on it, and so this was a blow on a tender bruise already. Mentally, I\u2019ve been spending time in that house where I\u2019ve been missing her for a while already.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn The Family Stone, Sybil (Keaton) and Kelly (Craig T. Nelson) host their adult kids (Dermot Mulroney, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson and Elizabeth Reaser) for the holidays, as she prepares to tell the family about her terminal illness.
