{"id":812132,"date":"2026-07-19T12:36:24","date_gmt":"2026-07-19T12:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/812132\/"},"modified":"2026-07-19T12:36:24","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T12:36:24","slug":"omans-fdi-climbs-8-7-to-84bn-on-strong-energy-inflows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/812132\/","title":{"rendered":"Oman\u2019s FDI climbs 8.7% to $84bn on strong energy inflows\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tRIYADH: Foreign direct investment in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/tags\/oman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oman<\/a> rose 8.7 percent year on year by the end of the first quarter of 2026 to 32.19 billion Omani rials ($83.7 billion), according to preliminary official data.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFigures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed a continued concentration of foreign capital in the sultanate\u2019s energy sector, while manufacturing and financial intermediation also recorded growth in investment value during the period.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe first-quarter figures underline Oman\u2019s efforts to\u00a0maintain\u00a0investment momentum as Gulf economies compete to attract long-term foreign capital into energy, industry, and\u00a0logistics, as well as financial services and other sectors linked to economic diversification.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tElsewhere in the Gulf, Saudi Arabia\u2019s first-quarter <a href=\"https:\/\/stats.gov.sa\/documents\/20117\/2435267\/Foreign%2BDirect%2BInvestment%2C%2BQuarter%2B1%2B2026%2B-EN.pdf\/73377e2d-c562-a3dc-436d-48cca5d4e076?t=1782799045489&amp;utm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FDI<\/a>\u00a0inflows rose 2.4 percent to SR26.6 billion ($7\u00a0billion), while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npc.qa\/en\/statistics\/Pages\/news\/13052026.aspx?utm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Qatar\u2019s National Planning Council <\/a>said inward FDI positions increased 2 percent to 165.4 billion Qatari riyals\u00a0($45.30 billion)\u00a0at the end of 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe UAE attracted $48.24 billion in FDI in 2025, up about 6 percent from a year earlier, ranking ninth globally, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/unctad.org\/press-material\/global-investment-rises-6-16-trillion-development-gains-remain-uneven\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UN Conference on Trade and Development<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that investment flows during the first quarter of 2026 amounted to about 2.56 billion Omani rials,\u201d\u00a0a report by\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/omannews.gov.om\/topics\/ar\/7\/show\/470923\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oman News Agency <\/a>said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOil and gas extraction\u00a0remained\u00a0the dominant destination for foreign investment, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/tags\/fdi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FDI <\/a>rising 9.5 percent year on year to 25.88 billion rials. Investment flows into the sector totaled 2.23 billion rials during the quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tManufacturing ranked second, with foreign direct investment reaching 2.87 billion rials, an increase of 5.4 percent. Investment flows into manufacturing stood at 146.7 million rials.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFinancial intermediation followed, with 1.56 billion rials in foreign direct investment, up 9.6 percent, while investment flows into the sector amounted to 137.7 million rials.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tUK\u00a0remains\u00a0top investor\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBy country, the UK\u00a0remained\u00a0the largest foreign direct investor in Oman at the end of the first quarter, with investments\u00a0totaling\u00a016.88 billion rials, up 9.9 percent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDirect investment from the US rose 10 percent to 8.69 billion rials, while Kuwaiti investment increased 4.6 percent to 1.44 billion rials.
