{"id":813232,"date":"2026-07-20T01:26:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T01:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/813232\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T01:26:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T01:26:13","slug":"woman-dies-after-apartment-fire-near-quebec-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/813232\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman dies after apartment fire near Quebec City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman in her 40s died after a fire early Sunday in her apartment unit in St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, a municipality about 20 kilometres west of Quebec City.<\/p>\n<p>The 911 dispatch centre received several calls at about 1 a.m. Sunday about the presence of flames and smoke in a 42-unit residential building.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters found the woman unconscious in a burning unit on the second floor; she died in a hospital. There were no other injuries. Damage was limited to her unit and the one directly beneath it.<\/p>\n<p>Alexandre Lajoie, a spokesperson for the Quebec City fire department, said in a statement that there is no indication of foul play.
