\n\tAll\u2019s well that ends well, but once upon a time Adam Scott<\/a> lost out on a major role \u2014 Michael C. Hall<\/a>\u2018s in HBO<\/a>\u2018s multi-Emmy-winning Six Feet Under<\/a> \u2014 and it nearly made him reconsider the craft of acting entirely.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs a recent guest on Amy Poehler\u2019s Good Hang podcast, the two Parks and Recreation alums delved into their time collaborating together and Scott\u2019s career trajectory. At one point, Poehler questioned if there was a role he had gotten \u201cclose on\u201d but didn\u2019t nab.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s good that I didn\u2019t get it because it wouldn\u2019t be nearly as good if I had done it because he was perfect and incredible,\u201d Scott said as Poehler expressed her shock. \u201cHe\u2019s incredible, and I wasn\u2019t ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen Poehler asked how far along the audition process the Severance star got, Scott replied, \u201cHe and I tested for it,\u201d at which point the Saturday Night Live alumna commiserated: \u201cThat hurts.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt was the one where I was like, \u2018I might stop doing this. I think that it\u2019s time for me to read the tea leaves and walk away,’\u201d Scott agreed, adding that it was \u201cpainful\u201d given how ubiquitous and popular the show was. (In Poehler\u2019s words, like \u201csomeone f\u2014ing your girlfriend in front of you.\u201d)<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOne hundred percent,\u201d Scott said, noting how the series \u201ceclipsed all other shows\u201d when it aired from 2001-05. \u201cIt was the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, the Big Little Lies actor was, indeed, able to log some time on the series after all, appearing as a guest star in Season 2 as the young Fisher brother\u2019s (Hall) boyfriend. Scott noted that the experience was \u201cfun\u201d and Hall was \u201clovely,\u201d concluding, \u201cBut yeah, that was a blow. That was hard. But it\u2019s also important that you have those experiences.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tFrom Oscar-winning creator Alan Ball, the dark comedy centers on the Fisher family, who operates a funeral home in Los Angeles. Dripping with irony, the show explores themes of mortality through Nate\u2019s (Peter Krause) story, as he unwillingly steps in to run the business following his father\u2019s death. In his role, Hall was nominated for a lead acting Emmy in the drama category in 2002.<\/p>\n
