{"id":814360,"date":"2026-07-20T15:09:42","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T15:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/814360\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T15:09:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T15:09:42","slug":"winnipeg-man-facing-impaired-driving-charge-after-car-crashes-into-bus-shelter-downs-hydro-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/814360\/","title":{"rendered":"Winnipeg man facing impaired driving charge after car crashes into bus shelter, downs hydro line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Winnipeg police allege a man was driving drunk after a vehicle damaged a bus shelter and downed a hydro line downtown on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The Winnipeg Police Service alleges the 49-year-old accused was driving fast on Sargent Avenue, going east, when he lost control of his car while trying to turn onto Balmoral Street.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the car crashed into a bus shelter and a Manitoba Hydro pole before continuing into a traffic signal box.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vehicle ultimately came to rest with its front wheels suspended off the ground,\u201d WPS said in news release.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p>Officers arrived on scene around 9:30 a.m. and spoke to the driver, with police saying they determined he was impaired by alcohol.
