Millions of families across Canada will see higher Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payments starting this month.<\/p>\n
The federal government announced the increase to the monthly payment on Monday.<\/p>\n
“Starting Monday, the Canada Child Benefit is going up for 3.6 million Canadian families,” said Secretary of State (Children and Youth) Anna Gainey. “This increased monthly payment will help cover everyday expenses like school supplies, clothing, and groceries.”<\/p>\n
From July 2026 to June 2027, eligible families will receive up to $8,157 per child under the age of six and up to $6,883 per child aged six to 17. According to the government, that’s an estimated increase of $160 per child under age six and up to $135 per child aged six to 17 year-over-year.<\/p>\n
The amount each family gets is reliant on several factors, including the number and the ages of children, and the family’s income from the year before.<\/p>\n
Families that earned less than $38,237 in 2025 will get the maximum benefit amount for each eligible child.<\/p>\n
Families that earned between $38,237 and $82,847 will see the benefit amount reduced by a percentage of its income greater than $38,237. That percentage changes based on the number of eligible children being cared for.<\/p>\n
Families that earned more than $82,847 will see the benefit amount reduced by a fixed amount plus an additional percentage of its income greater than $82,847. Both the fixed amount and percentage are based on the number of eligible children in the family.<\/p>\n
For caregivers who share custody of children in their family, each side will get 50 per cent of the calculated benefit.<\/p>\n
Benefit payments are recalculated every July.<\/p>\n
