RIO GRANDE VALLEY \u2013 The\u00a0University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men’s golf program announced on Monday the addition of Jacob Borow<\/a> as the associate head men’s golf coach. \nBorow spent the last year as Jim McLean’s Personal Teaching Assistant at the Jim McLean Golf School. Borow assisted Jim McLean with private lessons with featured golf schools, camps, clinics, select touring pros, and elite amateurs.

\nIn addition, Borow conducted in-depth studying on the game of golf, swing mechanics, position teaching, and how to teach every level of golfer under Jim McLean’s leadership. He also conducted and collaborated on swing studies for the top 100 men’s professional golfers for the 2025 season.

Jacob brings tremendous knowledge, energy, and character to UTRGV, and I am confident he will be an outstanding asset to our program as we continue to build.”

\nAccording to the Jim McLean Golf School website, the school has been recognized as the #1 Golf School in America by US News & World Report, CNN, and Travel + Leisure. In addition to training athletes, the school has also trained more than 260 licensed instructors, which includes Borow, a Jim McLean Certified Golf Instructor.

\nBorow is fresh off a five-year collegiate career with the University of Houston where he was named American Athletic Conference (AAC) Freshman of the Year in 2022. Borow wrapped up his senior season with a 71.67 stroke average and earned his lone tournament win at the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational after shooting 16 under par for a total of 200 across three rounds in 2024.

\nOn the national stage, Borow competed in four NCAA Regionals, helping Houston qualify as the seventh seed in the 2025 Urbana Regional in his senior season. In 2024, Borow helped Houston finish sixth in the Baton Rouge Regional.

\nBorow also interned in the Business Operations and Human Resources Office for Houston Athletics during the summer of 2024. While in this role, Borow researched a number of resources for current and new employees which includes employee onboarding, retention, and created a resource sheet for all employees of the department.

\nBorow earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Development at the University of Houston in August 2024. In addition to his play on the course, Borow was named to two AAC All-Academic teams and two Spring Academic All-Big 12 Conference teams.<\/p>\n
