ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) \u2014 Vaughn Grissom<\/a> drove in the tying run with a one-out double in the ninth inning and Jo Adell<\/a> was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Los Angeles Angels<\/a> a 3-2 comeback win over the St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Nolan Schanuel<\/a>, batting .367 since June 21, sparked the late rally with a one-out single off All-Star closer Riley O\u2019Brien, who is tied for the National League lead with 25 saves.<\/p>\n

Jorge Soler<\/a> was hit by a pitch and Grissom sent a line drive off the right-field wall that eluded a leaping Jordan Walker<\/a>. Pinch-runner Oswald Peraza<\/a> scored from second base and pinch-runner Jose Siri<\/a> reached third.<\/p>\n

Josh Lowe<\/a> was walked intentionally to load the bases. Adell, who homered in the third inning, took three straight balls from O\u2019Brien (3-4) before getting plunked by the next pitch to force in the winning run.<\/p>\n

Angels reliever Jos\u00e9 Fermin (3-1) struck out two in a scoreless ninth. <\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien\u2019s fifth blown save laid to waste a strong start by St. Louis right-hander Kyle Leahy<\/a>, who gave up one run and three hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked none.<\/p>\n

Angels starter Jos\u00e9 Soriano threw his best game since early May, allowing two runs and four hits in seven innings while striking out seven and walking one.<\/p>\n

The right-hander, who went 3-6 with a 5.15 ERA in his previous 14 starts, retired the side in order five times and became the first Angels starter to get an out in the seventh since June 16.<\/p>\n

Walker sparked the Cardinals\u2019 second-inning rally with a leadoff double over Lowe\u2019s head in left field. He went to third on Lars Nootbaar<\/a>\u2019s single and scored on Nathan Church<\/a>\u2019s one-out single for a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Blaze Jordan<\/a> followed with a potential inning-ending, double-play grounder to third base, but Denzer Guzman<\/a> bobbled the ball and his only play was to first as Nootbaar scored for a 2-0 lead.<\/p>\n

The Angels cut the deficit to 2-1 in the third when Adell, mired in an 0-for-24 slump that dropped his batting average to .237 entering the game, led off with his 14th homer of the season.<\/p>\n
