The German was on a strong ride and sitting near the top of the intermediate standings when he lost control through a right-hand corner after a descent. He slammed into the curb and barriers before receiving medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>Evenepoel on Lipowitz now, versus then<\/p>\n<p>Lipowitz was taken away by ambulance and later diagnosed with a fractured right collarbone. \u201cIt\u2019s a real shame\u2026 I wish him the best,\u201d stage winner Remco Evenepoel said afterwards, adding that he would miss Lipowitz in the final week, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wielerflits.nl\/nieuws\/tour-2026-harde-valpartij-florian-lipowitz-in-afdaling-van-de-tijdrit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WielerFlits<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the Tour, Remco Evenepoel\u2019s frustrations with Lipowitz spilled into the open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had asked for a lead-out and I didn\u2019t get one,\u201d Evenepoel told <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/news\/from-drama-to-drama-school-red-bull-makes-a-show-of-team-unity\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sporza<\/a> after Stage 6. \u201cYes, I was angry, and rightly so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also pointed to what he felt was a lack of support compared with the effort he had given his teammates earlier in the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the Tour of Catalonia, I rode at the front for him for 30 kilometres. I asked to do a kilometre of work at the front, and that wasn\u2019t possible,\u201d Evenepoel continued. \u201cThat made me angry, and that will have to be discussed thoroughly tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even before the Tour began, there was talks about who was the true leader of the team\u2013with the Double Olympic champion taking, well, attempting his best version at a diplomatic answer: \u201cI want to win a stage, we want to win the team time trial and take the yellow jersey with the team,\u201d he said. \u201cOf course we both want to stand on the podium, but whether it\u2019s him or me\u2026 if it happens in a good way without negative energy, that\u2019s good for both of us and for the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s next at the 2026 Tour de France<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the Tour moves on now, without Jonas Vingegaard, and Lipowitz. Stage 17 goes from Chamb\u00e9ry to Voiron for a total of 174.7km. There\u2019s one early categorized climb, but the rest is just a little lumpy.
