AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the last years of my career, I experienced very severe panic attacks whenever I had to walk onto the court. I never talked about it, but the panic attacks were incredibly intense,\u201d Ivanovic, who ascended to No. 1 in the world after that Grand Slam victory, said, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tennis_photos\/status\/2079308385103606174\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">per an X post <\/a>from @tennis_photos.<\/p>\n<p>She then added, \u201cPeople would wonder what suddenly happened in the middle of a match, why my game would fall apart but the truth is that I\u2019d be overcome by panic and simply couldn\u2019t go on. Then I\u2019d be overwhelmed by the fear of having to go out and play in front of people again the next day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ivanovic deserves a lot of credit for being willing to open up about what she was going through.
