Two-way forward Chaney Johnson<\/a>, who earned a contract after going undrafted last year, continued to endear himself to the Nets with his Summer League performances, Brian Lewis of the New York Post<\/a> writes (subscription required).<\/p>\n

Johnson raised his stock with his hustle and ability to play multiple positions. He was utilized as an undersized center in the California Classic and was the team\u2019s third-best player behind Egor Demin<\/a> and lottery pick Mikel Brown Jr.<\/a> in Las Vegas, Lewis opines.<\/p>\n

Johnson led all Vegas participants with 3.3 steals per game while averaging 13.0 points and 8.3 rebounds. His shooting splits were 67.7\/42.9\/80.0.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like my main goal is just to be the hardest-playing player out there,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cSo, whatever the team needs, that\u2019s my job.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson earned consideration for a spot on the 15-man roster.<\/p>\n

There were a variety of reactions from Sixers players when news broke of their acquisition of All-Star forward Jaylen Brown<\/a>. VJ Edgecombe<\/a> was contacted by executive vice president of basketball operations Jameer Nelson, who urged him to call ASAP, according to Gina Mizell of the Philadelphia Inquirer<\/a> Edgecombe actually thought he might have been traded. \u201cI was like, \u2018Man, it\u2019s free agency, why you calling me so much?\u2019\u201d Edgecombe said. \u201cI thought I was gone.\u201d Like many players, Justin Edwards<\/a> was stunned by the news. \u201cThey were talking about Jaylen Brown<\/a> and PG, (Paul George<\/a>) but I didn\u2019t pay attention to it,\u201d Edwards said. \u201cI [saw] it, but I looked away. Then I looked again. I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, snap!\u2019 So I called \u2019Rese (Tyrese Maxey<\/a>) and he was like, \u2018Yeah, man, I knew since this morning.\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018That\u2019s crazy.\u2019\u201d
\nOne of the downsides of the trade is that the Sixers are very limited regarding tradeable first-rounders, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com<\/a> notes. Their 2028 first-rounder is now tied to the Celtics and Clippers and would likely not carry significant value, given that the upside has been distributed to Boston already and could end up not conveying as a first-round pick at all. The only first-rounder that could be dealt at face value is their 2033 first-round pick.
\nKnicks star Jalen Brunson<\/a> told Variety\u2019s Marlow Stern<\/a> that he\u2019ll require a cast for at least another month after undergoing wrist surgery<\/a> earlier this month. \u201cI was more in pain when I wasn\u2019t in the game versus when we were actually playing. I feel like the adrenaline took over. But yeah, it was definitely an obstacle, but we found a way through,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause it\u2019s my tendon and my structure, my wrist is fine. There was soft tissue that was holding my tendon and it kept flipping and snapping over the bone every time I shot, every time I flicked my wrist, and so clearly it was causing pain, causing friction\u2026 I\u2019ll be in this [cast] for about another six weeks, and then from that point on, it\u2019s just my rehab after that.
