Chilliwack teen with replica firearm arrested at SkyTrain station<\/p>\n

A Chilliwack teen who allegedly had a firearm on the SkyTrain was arrested on Saturday (July 18).<\/p>\n
The incident happened around 5:25 p.m. when the Vancouver Police Department were called to report from the Nanaimo SkyTrain station of someone with a firearm on the train.<\/p>\n
\u201cA teenager allegedly exposed a firearm to a passenger before boarding an eastbound train,\u201d VPD stated in a July 21 press release.<\/p>\n
Police immediately broadcasted the suspect\u2019s description to regional law enforcement partners.<\/p>\n
Metro Vancouver Transit Police assisted VPD in arresting the boy. Transit Police officers found him at Edmonds SkyTrain station where they took him into custody on the platform.<\/p>\n
A subsequent search revealed he was carrying a replica firearm and a knife. He was transferred to VPD custody and taken to jail. He has since been released and is facing a charge for weapons possession, VPD added.<\/p>\n
Police later confirmed the boy is from Chilliwack.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would like to thank Metro Vancouver Transit Police for assisting in the apprehension of a dangerous suspect,\u201d said Constable Darren Wong. \u201cReplica gun or not, this was potentially a very dangerous situation that could have ended much differently.\u201d<\/p>\n
