British Columbia\u2019s police watchdog says officers in Metro Vancouver shot and killed a man after he tried to get into a police vehicle and there was a confrontation.<\/p>\n

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is investigating the shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon at a shopping centre.<\/p>\n

RCMP say officers responded after receiving reports about a man with an edged weapon threatening the public inside a business.<\/p>\n

The man then allegedly went outside and got into a vehicle and crashed into several parked vehicles, before police found him at a gas station at the mall.<\/p>\n

Police say the man tried to get into an unoccupied police vehicle during an ensuing confrontation, leading to officers to deploy a conducted energy weapon and fire shots.<\/p>\n

The man later died at hospital, while no officers were hurt.<\/p>\n

The watchdog agency says it\u2019s seeking witnesses and those with video footage of the shooting.<\/p>\n
