Weather didn\u2019t deter drag boats, Formula 1 racers during Sproat Lake Regatta<\/p>\n

Sproat Lake was alive with competition during the three-day Lightning on the Lake regatta, July 10-12.<\/p>\n
The three-day event drew 18 racers, some of them competing in more than one boat and racing category\u2014from drag boats to Formula 1. Racers came from as far away as Kamloops. Others were from Chilliwack, Pritchard, Victoria, Central Saanich, Shawnigan Lake, Youbou and Richmond.<\/p>\n
Three drivers from Port Alberni also raced: Peter Wilson, Robbie West and Doug Hedman.<\/p>\n
A steady stream of people headed to Sproat Lake Provincial Park on Friday evening, July 10, to meet with the drivers and check out their boats.<\/p>\n
On Saturday the weather was cool but dry until the very end of the races when a downpour began. Sunday proved to be windy but competitors stayed on the water.<\/p>\n

Unlimited Class \u2014 Dan Nikirk (runner up: Kyle Maskall).<\/p>\n
Unlimited Class Outboard \u2014 Robbie West (runner up: Kyle Schleining).<\/p>\n
Flat Bottom V Drive \u2014 Don Raymond (runner up: Dan Nikirk).<\/p>\n
Jet Boat \u2014 Jason Gadsby (runner up: Dan Gadsby).<\/p>\n
200 HP and under superstock, Tunnel Hi Performance \u2014 Robbie West (runner up: Kyle Schleining).<\/p>\n
200HP and Under Pro Stock Tunnel, Hi Performance \u2014 was Matt Reed.<\/p>\n
