A man\u00a0is facing assault charges for allegedly injuring an intruder at\u00a0his home in Lindsay, Ont.,\u00a0according to local police.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Kawartha Lakes Police Service says it responded to a call on Kent Street at about 3:20 a.m. on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to police, the resident had woken up to find an intruder inside his apartment. The two had an “altercation” and the intruder suffered life-threatening injuries, police say, and was later airlifted to a Toronto hospital.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police say the resident is facing charges for aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The alleged intruder, 41, is also facing charges, including breaking and entering\u00a0and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes. Police say the man was also already wanted\u00a0for unrelated offences.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Investigators did not provide any other information about the case.<\/p>\n
In response to a request for an interview from CBC News, acting\u00a0Staff Sgt.
