{"id":82263,"date":"2025-08-19T22:52:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T22:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/82263\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T22:52:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T22:52:10","slug":"new-report-suggests-relief-could-be-on-the-way-for-calgarys-housing-market-calgary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/82263\/","title":{"rendered":"New report suggests relief could be on the way for Calgary\u2019s housing market &#8211; Calgary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/equiton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Breaking-Ground-AI-Driven-Analysis-of-How-Policy-Reform-Can-Unlock-Canadian-Housing-Supply.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">new report<\/a> using AI-driven analysis suggests Calgary\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/housing\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">housing<\/a> market could see some relief.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1755073388_375_70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The study out of <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/concordia-university\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Concordia University<\/a> looks at how policy reform could impact Canadian housing supply in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, combining the latest data on housing starts and immigration along with risk factors like tariffs and supply chain volatility.<\/p>\n<p>The team behind the report says AI allows researchers to more easily analyze evolving data that can then be used to inform policy changes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThings change fast but every time there is new information we go back to the model and improve the model all the time and see where we are heading,\u201d says Erik Yonder, one of the researchers at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1755073389_716_national.jpg\" alt=\"Get the day's top news, political, economic, and current affairs headlines, delivered to your inbox once a day.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tGet daily National news<\/p>\n<p>Get the day&#8217;s top news, political, economic, and current affairs headlines, delivered to your inbox once a day.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers say aggressive housing starts, coupled with changing immigration policies, are narrowing the gap between supply and demand in the Calgary housing market. But Hahn does warn that momentum could run out if there is nowhere to build homes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve done really good on the housing supply, but we\u2019re going to turn the corner here soon and run out of lot of supply,\u201d explains Hahn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to need to turn our attention to adding lot supply in both established areas and new communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the Concordia report suggest Calgary home prices should stabilize to between $650-730,000 by 2032 if supply can keep up with demand.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t&amp;copy 2025 Global News, a division of Corus Entertainment Inc.\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A new report using AI-driven analysis suggests Calgary\u2019s housing market could see some relief.
