Diego Pavia is without an NFL team.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Heisman Trophy finalist was waived by the Ravens on Thursday before training camp opened this summer, forcing the rookie quarterback to be on the hunt for his next opportunity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pavia was signed as an undrafted free agent<\/a> after a strong season at Vanderbilt that saw him chosen as a finalist<\/a> for college football\u2019s most prestigious award.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After the Ravens signed him, he competed for the No. 3 spot on the QB depth chart during spring practices, with Baltimore now narrowing that down to veteran Skylar Thompson and undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, the team\u2019s website reported<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The decision to waive Pavia was to make room for veteran center Ethan Pocic, whom the Ravens officially signed. The organization still has a crowded quarterback room, with Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley atop the depth chart.<\/p>\n

Pavia helped lead Vanderbilt to a 10-3 season in 2025, which was the first time that the program had double-digit wins. The Commodores averaged 334.8 total yards per game, which was the second most among all FBS players.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The QB also took home a slew of awards during his final college football season, including being named a first-team All-American, SEC Offensive Player of the Year and winning the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Questions arose during his pre-draft process about his height, and he faced backlash after he lost the Heisman and took to social media, posting \u201cF- ALL THE VOTERS.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

He later had to apologize for the stunt.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pavia became the first-ever Heisman finalist not to be drafted earlier this year.<\/p>\n

New Ravens head coach Jesse Minter had called<\/a> Pavia a \u201cforce multiplier\u201d when the Ravens signed him earlier in the year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He also had called the opportunity with Baltimore a \u201cclean slate\u201d for Pavia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAny rookie undrafted free agent, come in and work. Let what you do on the field, and by your actions, show who you are.
