\n\tLuxbox Films<\/a> has acquired the world sales rights to Mariano Llin\u00e1s<\/a>\u2018 epic five-and-a-half -hour documentary \u201cLife of Jorge Luis Borges,\u201d which will world premiere at the Venice Film Festival<\/a> in the Open \u2013 Non-Fiction section.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film forms a biography of Argentine writer and poet Jorge Luis Borges, working from an exhaustive review of the papers he left, the books he read, and the places he went to.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is also \u201can attempt to decipher a very peculiar life: someone who lived like a hidden, underground warrior, whose cause was literature, literature conceived as a kingdom and as a landscape,\u201d according to a statement.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf Cold War spies fought from their desks or from an uninhabited house to defend their half of the world, Borges strove from a library to elevate and broaden the territories of his own tribe: the people for whom the most important part of the universe is books, plots and words.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLlin\u00e1s is perhaps best known for 2018\u2019s \u201cLa Flor,\u201d which, ruling out experimental projects or mere cinematic exercises, is the longest film in the history of cinema. Before that, \u201cBalnearios\u201d (2002) and \u201cHistorias Extraordinarias\u201d (2008) both had significant festival play.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2003, he founded with Alejo Moguillansky, Agust\u00edn Mendilaharzu and Laura Citarella the group El Pampero Cine.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe producers on \u201cLife of Jorge Luis Borges\u201d are Citarella, Ezequiel Pierr, Mendilaharzu, Moguillanksy and Llin\u00e1s for El Pampero Cine.<\/p>\n

\n\tLlin\u00e1s is the screenwriter. The DP is Mendilaharzu. The production designer is Ezequiel Pierri, and the editor is Ignacio Codino. Music is by Gabriel Chwojnik.<\/p>\n
