Commuters using the Brampton Innovation District GO Station will face more construction-related disruptions this weekend, including temporary parking restrictions, station access\u00a0changes\u00a0and overnight elevator closures.<\/p>\n
Metrolinx\u00a0says ongoing work at the downtown Brampton station is continuing through August as\u00a0crews\u00a0complete upgrades and repairs.<\/p>\n
From Saturday, July 25 to Sunday, July 26, crews will install a new fence near the station entrance, temporarily affecting four parking spaces near the entrance to the P2 lot.<\/p>\n
Construction activity and work vehicles may create\u00a0additional\u00a0noise in the area, but station access will remain available, according to\u00a0Metrolinx.<\/p>\n
Passengers should also be aware that the elevators connecting to the train platforms will be unavailable every day between\u00a01 a.m. and 5 a.m.<\/p>\n
During those hours, customers travelling between the north and south sides of the station are asked to use the Church Street and Main Street crossing.<\/p>\n
Anyone\u00a0requiring\u00a0accessible, barrier-free access to the train platforms after station hours can contact GO Transit at\u00a01-877-297-0624\u00a0for\u00a0assistance.<\/p>\n
The latest work comes after\u00a0Metrolinx\u00a0announced earlier this month that a\u00a0portion\u00a0of the station\u2019s main parking lot and one lane of the passenger pick-up and drop-off area would be temporarily closed.<\/p>\n
About\u00a0240 parking spaces\u00a0remain\u00a0unavailable while crews complete concrete repairs, repaving work and\u00a0install\u00a0a new garbage enclosure.<\/p>\n
Customers are being asked to use other available parking areas at the station. Those unable to find parking are encouraged to use\u00a0Bramalea GO Station, which is about a 20-minute drive away.<\/p>\n
Accessible parking spaces\u00a0remain\u00a0available in the main lot.<\/p>\n
Transit riders are also continuing to deal with changes at the nearby Brampton Transit Terminal.<\/p>\n
The terminal\u2019s north bus loop\u00a0remains\u00a0closed because of construction on an underground parking facility, forcing several GO bus routes to temporary stops along Main Street North.<\/p>\n
For GO bus routes 31 and 33:<\/p>\n
Eastbound buses are stopping on the west side of Main Street North, about 85\u00a0metres\u00a0north of the terminal.<\/p>\n
Westbound buses\u00a0are stopping\u00a0on the east side of Main Street North near Church Street East.<\/p>\n
For GO bus route 37:<\/p>\n
Northbound buses are stopping on the east side of Main Street North just north of the terminal.<\/p>\n
Southbound trips are ending on the west side of Main Street North near the terminal.<\/p>\n
Metrolinx\u00a0says the construction is part of ongoing improvements at Brampton Innovation District GO, including station rehabilitation work designed to improve\u00a0the customer\u00a0experience and support future GO service improvements.<\/p>\n
The agency expects the current construction\u00a0impacts\u00a0to continue until\u00a0August.<\/p>\n
Customers are being advised to follow posted signs, listen to staff directions and allow extra time when travelling through the station.<\/p>\n
