Winnipeg looks to make it four straight as a banged-up Calgary team tries to avoid a third loss in a row.

This Week’s CFL Schedule

Calgary Stampeders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers

WhenFriday, July 24 at 8:30 PM ET Winnipeg has won three straight since dropping back-to-back games in Weeks 2 and 4, and they just survived a wild 36-34 shootout with Ottawa last week. Calgary is going the other direction, losing two in a row to Montreal by a combined score of 68-58, and their defense has now given up 214 points through six games — worst among teams with a winning-ish record in this range. These two split a track meet back in Week 1, with Winnipeg edging Calgary 30-28, and both offenses have shown they can put points on the board in a hurry.

Calgary’s been living dangerously all year — six overs in six games says everything about how their games go. Winnipeg’s been more of a mixed bag on the total, sitting 3-3, but this matchup has shootout written all over it given the head-to-head history and Calgary’s inability to keep anyone off the scoreboard.

Players to Watch:

Dedrick Mills (Calgary Stampeders, RB) — 85 carries for 524 yards this season, and Calgary will lean on him even more with their receiving corps thinned out by injury. Injury Watch:

Reggie Begelton (Calgary Stampeders, WR) — Out with a knee injury, another hit to a receiving group that’s already thin. Pick: Winnipeg Blue Bombers 30-27. Calgary’s defense has been leaking points all season and Winnipeg’s the hotter team riding a three-game streak, plus they just got a wave of players back off injury to shore up their front seven.

CFL Standings

TeamWLPFPA

Edmonton Elks61203172 Quick Hits

Winnipeg got a healthy dose of good news this week, activating Kevens Clercius, Ethan Ball, Tanner Schmekel and Lane Novak off six-game injury — depth they’ll need against a Calgary offense that can score in bunches.
